Finding Alfie: A Free 2-Minute Script About Being Trans

 Recently I lost a bunch of work and had to take copies out of emails. I came across some two minute films we never got the chance to make. I feel like this one, in particular, deserves to be made. Feel free to borrow and use the script as long as you give full credit. 

 This is a simple piece designed only to give a snippet into a life.

 

Finding Alfie

 

A two-minute short script by Katriona MacMillan

 

1. INT, ALFIE'S BEDROOM, NIGHT.

 

The room is dimly lit by a lava lamp and the light from the PC. The camera swoops into the room as if peeking into his life. It slowly passes an Xbox, a few discarded old DVDs, some clothes and a skateboard, it comes to rest slowly on a boy’s feet. ALFIE is a teenage boy and is buying something on eBay.

 

 ALFIE'S MOTHER OFFSTAGE

 

Alfie! Dinner!

 

He runs out of the room. The camera remains on the PC. With his head out of the way we can see he has bought a female wig. After a moment he renters and closes down the PC. Exit Alfie.

 

2. INT, HALLWAY, MORNING

 

We see the postman’s POV as the door opens before he can knock and Alfie stands before him in his school uniform. The youngster signs for the package and the postman hands him the parcel. POV changes, Alfie accepts the parcel and runs upstairs.

 

3. INT, MORNING, ALFIE'S BEDROOM

 

 Alfie runs in and looks for a hiding place, he settles for pushing the box under his bed.

 

ALFIE'S MOTHER OFFSTAGE

 

Alfie you are going to miss your bus!

 

He exits.

 

4. INT NIGHT ALFIE'S BEDROOM

 

Alfie sits at a dressing table. he is dressed in woman's clothes and high heels. He has full makeup on. He opens the wig box reverentially, the wig is the final touch and he takes a suitable time adjusting it. Exit Alfie.

 

5. INT, NIGHT, ALFIE'S MUM'S BEDROOM

 

Alfie enters, sprays his mother’s perfume and examines himself in her full length mirror.  There is the audio of the front door opening and his mother saying goodnight to a neighbour. Alfie runs into the bathroom as his mother closes the door. He loses a shoe and has to go back for it.

 

6. INT, NIGHT, BATHROOM.

 

Offstage Alfie’s mother shouts on him. Alfie turns on the shower and starts to pull off the wig, shoes etc, which he wraps in a towel.

 

ALFIE

 

I just got in the shower mum I'll talk to you after!

 

He catches sight of his ruined makeup in the mirror and leans back against the bathroom door. He slides down and comes to a stop on the floor. He looks up into the camera.
